At the GSTL, Gert Rijlaarsdam managed until 2006 and from january 2010 the subdivision on curriculum development. Major projects were:

1. Development and implementation of a MA-level course on New Media & Language Teaching, in co-operation with the Universities of Barcelona, Vesprehem (Hungary), Gent (Belgium) and the Institute for School Praxis of Bremen (Germany). The project was sponsored by the European Commission. Project manager Ton Koet.

2. Development and implementation of ICT-rich environments in University Teacher Training courses (project manager Judith Janssen J.V.Janssen@uva.nl). This project aims at developing the ICT-skills of teacher trainers, modules on ICT in Education and course materials and trainees' tasks (databases and web-based course support)

3. Development and implementation of local courses of secondary schools on learning from existing environments (project manager Marc Kropman: M.Kropman@uva.nl). In this project, interdisciplinary teams of teachers, from six schools in Zaanstad (North Holland) develop learning tasks, aimed at inquiring the local environment outside the school. This project was funded by the State of North Holland, the City of Zaanstad and the school themselves.

4. Development and implementation of a School of Education in the University of Can-Tho (Vietnam) (project-manager for GSTL Riny van Krieken: R.vanKrieken@ilo.uva.nl). This project provides support to the board of the Can-Tho University in establishing a new teacher training curriculum by training Vietnamese teacher trainers in Vietnam and creating opportunities to study (MA/Ph.D) in Amsterdam.

5. Development and implementation of courses in communication and journalism (project manager Anne Toorenaar: A.M.Toorenaar@uva.nl). In this project, we provide extra courses for those studying at the University of Amsterdam, aimed at training communication skills for delivering disciplinary information in oral and written forms.
